I've been slaying all my goals but I've been neglecting my fitness challenge. These ladies are so awesome and not only do I get to spend time with them in person but a lot of us stay connected online too... . I have to admit that I really struggled with the decision to add online coaching to my own personal training biz. I was trying to do it all on my own and it gets hard and lonely sometimes (and let’s face it a program with just me cannot compete with a team of the top trainers, nutritionists and scientists... ) I started talking with another fit pro and studio owner that I just really connected with @nickiecarrigan_ and I just really liked her...I thought, okay, she’s awesome and this is way better than what I can do on my own- I am in! Seriously, It has been one of the best decisions I’ve made...and some of the reasons surprised even me... . I’ve always been good at getting my workout but as a pro- We are always students and always learning and being part of this movement is like being on the cutting edge of workouts & nutrition. Well I had the time of my life this last week having my husband home. We ate out way too much, I did way too many 10pm workouts and missed a few too many but such is life. Physique update 02-20-18 Wishing I had more time to do weight training. If I try to work out while Kinsley’s awake it just turns into pony rides and monkey business (which is way more fun anyways😋 ) so I usually wait until she goes to bed, but after a long day in classes or at work then coming home to cook, clean, play with miss Kinsley, and get ready for the next day, I am already tuckered out and find it hard to stay motivated. Most of the time I will suck it up and get it done, even if it’s only 20 minutes, but there has also been days I say screw it, grab a bowl of snacks, and crawl into bed 🤷🏼♀️ but guess what, that’s okay too! I was on the STRUGGLE bus 🚌 today guys! Got home from work and just felt so mentally and physically drained I really didn't feel like working out. It was a long weekend here and for some reason I thought it was Total body core today-which would've meant 60 mins and I was not in the mood. After checking my calendar I realized it's Tuesday and it was 40 mins of CARDIO CORE. I gave myself a little pep talk, took my liquid gold ⚡ and pushed PLAY! Once the preworkout kicked in I just gave it my all. I pushed harder and went for it today. Autumn's pep talks during the workout really helped me too. I used to hate cardio and I couldn't last holding a plank or doing jumping jacks...well now I can do plyo moves and not feel like dying 😂😂😂 I feel so much STRONGER with my form and endurance. I'm not even half way done this program.. it's amazing what you can do when you listen to that happy voice in your head. It's totally mind over matter. Here's a clip of some of my fave moves. This is my WHY. . They are the reason that I get up each day and press play, to workout from home. . I didn’t want to be driving to the gym when I could be at home with them nor schedule things around my husband so I could make to a group fitness class. . It’s a choice to do what I do but it works for me and my family. . I wouldn’t want it any other way and I love the fact that I can help others do the same.
Want to feel more at peace? More contentment? Less anxiousness? Want to feel more balanced? More grounded? More at ease? It all starts with choosing how you want to feel. Choosing your emotions may seem a little odd. Most of us have been taught that our emotions and feelings happen to us. But frankly, that’s not true. Each of us absolutely has the power (and actually are the only ones with the power ) to determine how we feel. SO, take back your emotional control and switch from a passive mindset to a more active one by asking yourself, “How do I want to feel?” Once you have the answer, make sure your thoughts are aligned with and fueling this desired feeling. Making this emotional shift is not an easy thing to do. Thankfully, essential oils can be incredible tools for helping with this process. STEP ① Choose an oil that corresponds with your desired mood. STEP ② Use 1-3 drops of the oil - aromatically or topically - every 3-4 hours throughout your day. STEP ③ Get on with feeling good!
Got out for an afternoon run with my sweet boy. The weather was perfect, so I had to get out in it! 2.4 #strollermiles and then lots of running around in the yard. Miles are dedicated to Coach Beigel and the other victims that lost their life last week in the Florida shooting. . . . Only one more run and an OTF workout before my next half marathon on Saturday. It's going to be a warm race so I'm making sure to get in all water this week! . . . So glad I was able to make it a short day at work to be able to spend some more time with Will. Definitely a benefit of making my own schedule. With meetings every day, I couldn't take an extra day off once I returned from Mexico, so this will have to work. So this jumped out to me today. Weirdest thing...past few nights I have had the best nights sleep. 😴That’s something to be said for someone who takes a sleeping pill every night. But I tried a few nights without them and have been falling and staying asleep. I’ve been following my exercise plan (almost perfectly ) and my eating plan and having my special shakes that make me invincible!!! The weird thing... In my dreams... I am a friggin super model on an island paradise. 👙🏝No belly. No double chin. No rubbing thighs. I'm hot! I know weird! I'm weird lol. 😜Thoughts turn into things. I thought one day I would join a group of incredible women who support each other in their fitness journey. I typically don’t do my hair, I wear the same mascara for days because I’m too lazy to wash my entire face, my eyebrows are brought to you by the early 2000’s, I’m obsessed with animals, I have a handful of friends, I enjoy being alone mostly, my mind is always creating things, things i can’t even keep up with, I’m too loud, I’m messy, I talk too much, I have been struggling with panic attacks for the last year, and chronic eczema for 8 years on my mouth, hands, wrists and arms and I haven’t finished a book in probably 4 years... all of this is me and it’s definitely not perfect or always pretty but the older I get the happier I am being myself, panic attacks and eczema have given me some amazing perspectives on life as awful as it’s been I can count the positives all day! I really believe in the power of positive affirmations and use them regularly as part of my manifestation practices. 🌈🦄 At the moment, thanks to a couple of my gorgeous friends, I am using affirmations (in addition to modern medicine of course ) to will away this crazy bronchitis that is just refusing to leave. You don’t have to believe in manifestation and you can even think I’m nuts for using affirmations as part of my bronchitis treatment. It’s cool, I won’t be offended (and after two weeks of being super sick, I’m willing to try anything! 🤒😷🤧 ). Do you ever have those days where you just can’t get your head out of your a&$?? 🙊 You know those days, when you are just SUPER IRRITABLE 😡 and the littlest thing makes you feel like you are going to loose your mind 🤯 well, this was me the other day. I had to keep taking time to stop and breath 💨 and try to imagine nice calm 🌊 so I didn’t let it out at my kids, because it wasn’t there fault and they weren’t doing anything wrong. 👉I was trying soooo hard to not lose my cool 😎 when all I wanted to do was SCREAM at the TOP of MY LUNGS to just get that feeling to go away..but I wasn’t in a place where this was possible. >>then the strangest thing happened<< ✴️I realized that this is when I would normally reach for a drink...like a 🍺 or a glass of 🍷, but I have made the decision to abstain from alcohol since Jan 14th and until I finish this program...and who knows, maybe even longer...so I DIDN’T 😤 ✴️at that time I also realized that I wouldn’t have been satisfied or fully relieved with just 1 drink...and that I would have gone in a downward spiral real quick 🤦♀️ and this is NOT A HEALTHY WAY FOR ME to DEAL with this kind of Anxiety! 👉soooo, instead of reaching for that drink, I turned on some Pointer Sisters, of all things...”I’m so Excited” 😆 CRANKED IT UP and fell into a LOUD and SILLY singing/DANCE break with my Kids! it’s difficult to find this beauty especially with our social media culture. I’m guilty of it🙋🏻♀️ this week, I’m going to make a point to stay away from my phone before sleep and find more time in reflections of my thoughts. With so much going on with life, it’s so important to make time for yourself whether is cooking a healthy meal, working out, or just making small changes 💫 how do you make time for yourself?
It's moments like this that can feel like the torture will never end! The endless noise and tiredness...already 2 days in to the new half term & it's brought exhaustion and emotions all over the place. What they need from me is love and calm and support but I am truly outnumbered at this time of day and my cup needs replenishing! My own self care journey is an important one and I'm still learning to do less so that I still have something left by 5pm. There are so many times I feel I'm failing them when we can't keep up with reading every night (how does anyone keep up with 3 of them? ) or spellings, or just simply having fun! I cannot do it all and that's something I have to accept; I can't be hard on myself about. I juggle, I manage, I make do with what I can give, when I can give it. Life feels hard tonight but I know tomorrow it will feel lighter and brighter, another of the many waves in the sea that is life 🌊 If life feels tough for you today, know that you're doing what you can and it will pass 💕
Not my best 💪🏻 but.... 😊 Living a healthy lifestyle is DEFINITELY NOT about deprivation! Anyone who knows me well knows that I could never get behind something that would deprive me of food. 😆 This morning got away from me as there was a snow delay and special time spent engaging in Valentines festivities with my girls. I didn't eat as much as I usually do in the morning and once I got to my workout I was losing energy quickly- so much so that I had to push pause and eat a full meal 👆🏻(plus two cheese sticks and some nuts ) in the middle of it! After I ate I finished my workout with so much more energy. Listen to your body and fuel it with the good stuff!
Today did NOT go as I planned. Most Mondays don't. I had perfectly pieced together my schedule for today and my two little tornadoes took that thing and ripped it right up into a trillion pieces. 😆Once it took me almost the entire morning to get the baby down for a nap I came up with every excuse to not use the little bit of remaining time while my 4 year old was at school to get my workout in. But...I DID IT ANYWAY. 5 months ago I would have definitely skipped my workout and flipped on the tv and relaxed because my "plan" didn't go the way I wanted it to and I would give up until tomorrow because today was "ruined" already. NOT ANYMORE! That's what happens when you choose a LIFESTYLE instead of a diet- you realize you were stronger than your excuses all along. 🙌🏻👊🏻💪🏻
I do not like before and after photos. Let me rephrase that-I do not like posting MY OWN before and after photos. I have been incredibly inspired by seeing the type of transformations that I, myself, have had ON OTHER PEOPLE, but there is something uncomfortable about posting my own. I never want to give the impression that I think small is better than big, or that thin is better than having some extra weight to lose. I never want people to think that I think you can't be happy with some extra weight on your body. I do not believe that-and I absolutely NEVER, EVER want to instill those messages into the minds of my girls. Sure, I was 32 lbs heavier in that photo than I am now but that is second to what I can tell you about what was going on with me mentally. What I can tell you is that the woman on the left was far less CONFIDENT and MENTALLY STRONG than the woman on the right. So much so that I have a hard time finding "before" photos because I spent that time in my life not wanting my picture taken. The woman on the left was in far too long of a "phase" where she allowed herself to: ❌lack contentment ❌be treated like less than she was ❌be bullied ❌let anxiety rule her decisions ❌not take time for herself ❌not give herself grace ❌set limitations for what she can and cannot do, both in physical fitness and in life in general The mental and emotional shift that comes from taking time out for yourself and engaging in self-care FAR outweighs the physical transformation. I hold my head high now after a long time of fearing I may never again be completely confident one day, and THAT is to be celebrated. 🎉
Whoever said at-home workouts can't be effective was L Y I N G!!! I used to let that stop me, too. Little did I know that I could actually workout 6 days a week more consistently and effectively at home than I ever did at the gym! Even with my cute little "interruptions". 👶🏻😊
